I got into trouble at work because we wanted to put a Internet server using open source software. I decided to use Fedora Core 3 and, to my surprise, the server had an old version of PHP, MySQL and Apache.
I needed this software to be updated but, with my short knowledge of linux and the community resources, I was in quite a hurry.
I decided to go look in a forum called "The Fedora Community Portal" and posted my problem and if somebody could help me.
Various guys posted some tips... In fact, quite some guys helped me with my problem and led me to success in the software update.
But only one guy was there all the time, very interested in helping, asking for nothing in exchange, and this guy was Paul Howarth. His valuable help led me to updating this software and to success in my duties.
This inspired me a lot. I never expected to get help and support from guys who have jobs and are occupied, like me. This way of caring about other people's problems, even if you don't know them; or if they live in another continent; or if they speak your language or not, it's a great example to follow.
Thats why this song is dedicated to Paul Howarth in the first place, and to all the free software community for their unselfishness in general; and for me, its a reminder of this kind attitude.
